Every child deserves a space that feels like home. I grew up without a mattress until I was fifteen. That memory is why Room to Belong exists — personalized bedroom makeovers for foster youth, kinship caregivers, and reunifying families, so every child gets a room that says: you belong here.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Room to Belong isn't just about furniture — it's about dignity through choice. Every family we work with helps guide the style, color, and feel of their own space, because being asked "what do you like?" can be its own kind of healing. Through partnerships with furniture and bedding companies, we're able to stretch every dollar further and bring more kids home to a room built just for them.
OUR IMPACT
45 Room Makeovers Done and Counting. Each room we've transformed tells the same story twice — a bedroom transformed on the outside, and a young person transformed on the inside. The peeling paint becomes a mural of their favorite colors. The bare mattress becomes a bed they helped design. And the walls that once meant nothing become the first walls that ever felt like home.

Young adults aging out of the foster care system
Foster youth entering a new placement, often with nothing of their own
Children in kinship (next-of-kin) care, whose caregivers stepped in with little notice or support
Biological mothers being reunified with their children, rebuilding a home together
Biological fathers achieving reunification and preparing a space for their children's return
MEET DAMIAN
Damian's story doesn't follow a straight line. He’s been in foster care since he turned ten. Through all of it, he held onto the things that kept him grounded — building computers, playing basketball — even while some part of him always knew another move was coming. Rather than let that instability define him, Damian made a choice: to model his life the opposite of what he'd observed. Today he's a biology major, working toward a future he built for himself. His room makeover became more than a redesign — it became proof that someone still believed in that future, too.
